On this panel you can add or maintain alternative products or co-products. Alternative products can, for example, be defined if the quality of the produced end item varies. Instead of scrapping the non-conforming items you define them as alternative. The normal item and the alternative items are separated by different item codes.
By specifying item codes on this panel, you define the alternative items that may be produced. If you, based on statistics or experience, know how many alternative products normally are produced along with the normal item, this can be stated in either quantity or percentage. If the assumed amount of alternative products is unknown to you, you can leave out the quantity/percentage and report the alternative quantities later on in the manufacturing order reception routine.
Note: If you choose to enter quantities/percentages, the alternative products must either all be defined with a quantity or with a percentage. You cannot mix the use of quantities/percentages.

- Structure quantity
- Alt product method
- This optional field indicates if the alternative product(s) should have any influence on the component quantity. The code indicates the options that are displayed for this field.
Code Description 1 Share. If 1 is displayed, then alternative products will have no impact on the component quantity. Component quantity and Operation time will be calculated based on the planned quantity. 2 Additional. If 2 is displayed, then alternative products will increase the component quantity. Component quantity and Operation time will be calculated based on the Order quantity.
- Alt product
- The code and description that identify the alternative item/co-product. Note: The item cannot be the same as the original item, and it must be of item type 1 (End item) or 2 (Sub-assembly).
- Percentage
- The percentage of alternative items/co-products that may be produced instead of the original end item. When a manufacturing order is created for the parent item, the order quantity will be adjusted with the additional quantity of the alternative product(s).
For example:
If the item planned quantity in unit is 100 and the percentage value is 10%, the quantity in structure unit for the alternative item/co-product will be 10.Note: If this field is blank, the alternative item/co-product will be available in the manufacturing order reception routine, but no planned reception quantity will be calculated.
- Quantity
- The number of alternative items/co-products that may be produced instead of the original end item. When a manufacturing order is created for the parent item, the order quantity will be adjusted with the additional quantity of the alternative product(s).
Quantity in structure unit on the manufacturing order will be calculated according to following formula:
Quantity
MULT Conversion factor for the structure unit (parent item)
DIV Conversion factor for the component unit = Quantity in unitOrder qty in unit x Quantity in unit / batch quantity = Quantity in structure unit
Note: If this field is blank, the alternative item/co-product will be available in the manufacturing order reception routine, but no planned reception quantity will be calculated.
- Unit
- Divide costing
- This mandatory field is only displayed when Alt prod method is selected as Share. The code indicates the different values which can be selected for this field.
Code Description 1 Share. Indicates the reduction of the product costing value (of the original item) from the total product costing value weight by the share of percentage. 2 Fixed value. Indicates the reduction of the product costing value (of the original item) from the item standard cost price from the Item file. 3 None. Indicates no reduction.
