The purpose of this program is to maintain master information for bill of materials. Master BOM’s are ideal for customers who produce products whereby the included material is the same or partially the same. To simplify and expedite the procedure of making general changes to, e.g., the required quantity for a component, the changes are allowed on the master BOM.
The master BOM id can then be referenced in the structure header in Work with structures by entering the BOM id which copies the details from the master BOM. If a master BOM is used on a structure, the material from a master BOM is not allowed to be maintained on the item’s structure as those are created from a master, but additional material is allowed to be entered.
From this panel you can utilize options to create and maintain materials, as well as access the master BOR for maintenance of bill of operations.
Options
| Material | Select this option to access the Work with master BOM, Bill of material panel where you can add/maintain materials attached to the master BOM. |
| Enq where used | Select this option to access the Master BOM enquiry, Where used panel where you can enquire where the master BOM is used. |
| Update structure | Select this option to access the Update structure from master BOM panel where you can update the item structure connected to the master BOM. |
| Unlock | Select this option to unlock a locked master BOM that is being used by another user. |
