A parallel file is a copy of a DC1 transaction or balance file before it is converted. The parallel file can be used for analysis if you need to check the values before they were converted at a later date. It is not a complete copy of a file but holds necessary key information to make it possible to access the records and the converted amount fields. The parallel files will be created automatically when the conversion starts but before the files are converted. See About working with parallel files after system currency conversion for instructions on how to use the parallel files for analysis after the conversion.
