The following describes how you split an asset with the acquisition value as the basis.
Here, you want to split the original asset into two parts where the remaining amount is to be kept on the original asset, and the split values are to be moved to a new asset. The value to be split is 2,000:
Original asset (before the split) |
|
---|---|
Acquisition value | 10,000 |
Depreciation balance | 4,000 |
Residual value | 6,000 |
Quantity | 10 |
New asset |
Original asset (after the split) |
||
---|---|---|---|
Acquisition value | 2,000 | Acquisition value | 8,000 |
Depreciation balance | 800 | Depreciation balance | 3,200 |
Residual value | 1,200 | Residual value | 4,800 |
Quantity | 10 | Quantity | 10 |
- Select the Work with split menu item.
- You access Asset split selection. The following fields are relevant:
- Asset for split
- Mandatory entry. Enter the number of the asset. Click OK. The system retrieves the asset as well as acquisition information automatically.
- Note: When you split a main asset, the sub-assets, if any sub-assets exist (i.e., assets with a sequence number), will be split according to the split basis of the main asset.
- Split to asset
- Mandatory entry. Enter the number for the new asset or have it retrieved automatically. The number must not already exist in the Asset file. The system checks that the number is correct according to the series defined for the asset type and group. If the number is not defaulted it has to be entered manually.
- Note: The new asset adopts all the characteristics of the original one. You can do adjustments in the Asset file.
- Remaining on asset
- If the remaining asset is to be replaced by a new one, close the original one completely by entering the number of the new asset here.
- Note: This asset also adopts all the characteristics of the original one. You can do adjustments in the Asset file.
- Split date
- Mandatory entry. This date is used to get a transaction period. The system defaults today’s date as the date for when the split was done. This information can be changed.
- Acquisition value
- Quantity
- Percentage
- Remaining on asset
- This field is mandatory.
- Acquisition value
- Enter the new asset’s share of the acquisition value, here 2,000.
Split basis
In the fields below, you select the basis for the split.
All amounts, e.g., acquisition and depreciation amounts, will be split according to the selected basis. The quantity of the original asset will be split, if quantity is used as the basis of the split. The share defined in the split basis will be the share of the split asset, and the remaining share will either stay on the original asset, or be redistributed to another asset. This depends on the specification in the following field:
Since this task describes how to split with the acquisition value as the basis, the following field must be entered:
Click OK to confirm that all fields have the correct value. Ensure that the information is correct and click Perform split to perform the split and select the printer information.
Note: Since quantity is not used as the basis here, the original asset’s quantity will not be split. If you want to split the quantity between the assets, you have to do it manually in the Working with assets routine.
Click OK to receive a receipt confirming the changes made in the Asset file. Exit the routine.
