Navigating Cash Flow Manager

Related topics

The application Cash Flow Manager (CFM) consists of the following components that you should familiarise yourself with to more easily navigate and customise the environment that is suitable for your CFM role.

Note: The information contained within this area does not describe the complete PlannerView Client user interface (UI) functionality. It only outlines the basics in order to be able to work in the CFM role. For detailed information about customising and working in the UI, see the PlannerView Client Help. There, you will also find explanations of the UI terminology used in the instructions of this area, as well as a search function to easily find the appropriate information.

This document contains the following main areas:

Workspace

The main window is referred to as the Workspace. This window contains and displays the perspectives and their applicable panels and sub-panels to which you can drill down to display and work with further detailed cash flow forecast information.

The Workspace consists of several preloaded layers of information. You have three ways of accessing these layers and the information you require. These are described below.

Note: The individual icons that are available in the Workspace are described in section Icons below.

Menu bar

All menus, functions, options and dropdown lists can be accessed from the Top menu bar.

Sidebar shortcuts

Shortcut icons are available in a Sidebar for quick and easy access to the preloaded information.

Toggle the Sidebar and its shortcuts by either clicking View in the top menu bar and select Sidebar. Or, you can right-click in the top menu bar and select Shortcuts.

Navigator

A Navigator tree is available on the left-hand side of the Workspace. To expand the tree, the left-hand Sidebar must be activated (see the previous step) and then you click the Navigator icon:

Icons

The following icons are available in the Workspace and on its panels:

In outline mode it is possible to display details (expand all lines) by clicking on the Show details icon or to hide details (collapse all lines) by clicking on the Hide details icon.

View – Transpose. Use this icon to transpose (view columns to the left and the dates as columns) the Calendar view. This may be useful if not all columns fit on the panel and you want to get an overview of all expected payments on a daily level.

See Analyse the cash flow forecast for more information.

Roles

The PlannerView application contains workspaces for different roles. This routine describes the Cash Flow Manager role. First you need to log on to your assigned role in the company:

Do as follows:

Right-click on the company you want to work in and enter your user ID and password. Mark your role and click Show workspace.

Note: It is possible to switch to any other role to which you are authorised while working in your assigned role.

Perspectives

A Perspective is a number of panels which are arranged, sized and grouped together. When you open a Perspective all included panels are opened.

All functions or processes supported in CFM are defined by their own Perspective (e.g., cash flow forecast values, sales orders and purchase orders). You can easily switch between the defined perspectives in your role, but only one perspective can be active at a time. The Perspective you are currently working with is shown in the title of the Workspace. You can customise your own perspective and define it as your Startup perspective. See Customise a perspective.

Five Perspectives are preloaded. Each one displays cash flow forecast details for the following transactions shown in either system, reporting, or transaction currency depending on which perspective you selected or how you have customised your Workspace:

  1. Cash flow forecast values
  2. A/P transactions
  3. A/R transactions
  4. Sales order lines
  5. Purchase order lines

Note: If you want to access another perspective simply click Perspectives and select the applicable perspective from the dropdown menu or from the Sidebar icon Perspectives. You do not have to close all open panels first. They will automatically be closed before the panels are reloaded with other selected values.

Panel types

Four Panel types are preloaded and described in the subsequent sub-sections. Each panel is of a certain panel type and holds information related to a certain business object. This makes it possible to open a panel either from its Panel type or its Business object (see section Business objects below).

Each panel type displays information in a specific way. All available CFM panels are arranged by panel type. They can be found from the top menu bar or the sidebar.
