Add a numeric configurator attribute

Numeric attributes are used when the values represent types of material and/or something that can be measured, such as weight or length. Numeric attributes may be used as variables in configurator formulas to calculate quantity, etc. Several options of how to add values to the attribute exist. You can:

  • Define a number of values. For example: The values 1 meter, 3 meters, 5 meters and 7 meters are valid. During the configuration process, one of these values must be selected.
  • Define a minimum and maximum value, indicating what values are valid. For example: All values between 1 meter and 100 meters are valid. During the configuration process, any of the permitted values can be selected.
  • Define a minimum value, a maximum value and an increment value. The increment value is used when you have many permitted values in order to avoid the manual typing of the values. For example: Enter 10 as minimum value, 50 as maximum value and 10 as increment value. During the configuration process, values 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 are permitted for selection.

The following illustrates the first option, i.e. the process of adding a number of specific values.

  1. Select the Work with configurator attributes menu item.
  2. On the initial panel, click Add to add a new attribute.
  3. You access Configurator attribute maintenance. Complete the following fields:
  4. Attribute
Enter a numeric code identifying the attribute and a description in the adjacent field. A numeric attribute may be referenced in a formula.
Note: The attribute code may be up to 5 characters long. It may not include the characters &, %, +, -, * or /, and it must not have embedded blanks.
    Prompt text
Enter a text to be used as field prompt for the attribute on configuration panels.
    Attribute type
Enter the code N, indicating that the attribute code will be used for numeric fields.
    Number of decimals
Enter the number of decimals allowed for the values of this attribute. The range of decimals can be 0 to 3. All values concerning this attribute will be presented with this number of decimals through the system.
    Min value
Optional entry. Enter the minimum value for a numeric attribute. This is used for validation in the configuration entry and as a from value when adding increment values.
    Max value
Optional entry. Enter the maximum value for a numeric attribute. This is used for validation in the configuration entry and as a to value when adding increment values.
    Increment value
Optional entry. Enter the increment value to be used to automatically add valid values for a numeric attribute. Tip: Click the Increment function key to automatically add the values within the minimum-maximum value range.
    Item category 1 – 6
Optional selection. Indicate if this attribute shall be used to follow up configurations in the sales statistics. Note: An attribute must only be assigned to one item category. Entries must exist in the specified item category table. The fields are protected if any value of the current attribute is already assigned to an item category.
    Value
Enter values for this attribute. Tip: Click the Increment function key to define a minimum value, maximum value and increment value, if not defined in the applicable fields above. After clicking OK, the attribute values will automatically be added within the defined interval.
    Value text
    Not applicable for numeric attributes.
    Item category
Select the code of the specified item category (1 – 6) table to be assigned to this attribute value for sales statistics follow-up.

Click OK when you have completed all relevant fields. Exit the routine.
