This is used to restrict the selection possibility during the product configuration. Several configuration parameters can be connected to a certain configurable item. Using the authority control functionality you can specify what users will have access to the different parameters.
The following steps must be performed:
- Activate the authority group CFGPARM in the Authority group table. See About setting up and working with authority control for more information about authority handling.
- Define an authority object for the configurator parameter. See Define an authority object for a parameter below.
- Define if an authority control check should be performed during the product configuration, and define who will have authority to use the parameter. See Define an authority control check for a parameter below.
Define an authority object for a parameter
- Select the Work with configurator parameters menu item.
- On the initial panel, select the applicable parameter and click Change.
- You access Configurator parameter maintenance. Complete the following field:
- Authority object
- Enter a code indicating the authority object for the parameter. You can either create a new or use an existing code. The authority object is used in the Authority group table to define if an authority control check should be performed when this parameter is used in the product configuration routine. Note: Several parameters can be connected to the same authority object.
Click OK. Exit the routine.
Define an authority control check for a parameter
- Select the Work with configurator parameters menu item.
- On the initial panel, select the applicable parameter and click Authority.
- You access Authority group table maintenance, Secured objects. Complete the following field:
- Default value
- Enter a code indicating the authority of the object for the selected authority group. Permitted values are:
- You access Authority group table maintenance, Object authority per Routine and User. Click Add.
- On the detail panel, complete the following fields:
- Routine
- Enter the name of the authority routine.
- User
- Enter the name of the user profile or group profile.
- Authority
- Indicate if the user should have authority to work with the selected routine.

2 | An authority check control will be performed when users access the object. The default authority is that no user can access the object. Note: The authority defined here for the user is overridden if you define another authority for the object on the Authority Detail or Routine authority per user and object or Object authority per Routine and User panel. |
Note: The objects that are not defined in this table will be handled as those with the code for Default value set to 0. During the set-up of the authority control function, the code 0 is useful until the set-up is completed.
Click Obj aut per routine and usr to define the users who should have, or not have, authority to use the parameter.
Click OK. Repeat this step for all users you want to add. Exit the routine.
