The purpose of this function is to connect real items from the Item file to a parameter previously defined in the Configurator parameter table. The real items that need to be connected to parameters are the configurable parent item and all the components that can be selected during the configuration process.
The components should be connected to the parameter in which all possible values within an attribute are defined. (For example, the Blue and Green items are connected to the Colour parameter.) See About setting up configurator parameters for instructions.
Note: It is possible to add configurable components. This is referred to as configuration at lower levels. Configurable components are set up in the same way as configurable parent items. See Connect a configurable parent item to a configurator parameter.
- Select the Work with configurator items menu item.
- On the initial panel, click Add to add an item.
- You access Configurator item maintenance. The following fields are mandatory:
- Item
- Enter an item code from the Item file.
- Parameter
- Enter the configurator parameter (the family name) to which the item is to be connected.
- You access Configurator item maintenance, Attribute values where the system connects the real item to the selected parameter and displays the attribute of the selected parameter. Complete the following fields:
- Value from/to
- Enter a single value (from) or a range of values (from-to) belonging to this attribute to be connected to this component. This field, in combination with Test on Configurator BOM maintenance, is used to define the conditions that allow the component to be added to the generated bill of material. The component will only be added to the bill of material if the values that are selected at product configuration meet the defined conditions.
- Note: If needed, click the Alternative selections function key to add an additional range of values defining the conditions for the component.
- I/O
- Indicate if the attribute is input, output or hidden for the current user at product configuration process. Note: This field must be left blank if the bill of material field does not hold any information, i.e. the configuration is set up for selecting a component.
- Default retrieval
- Indicate if and when the default value of the attribute should be retrieved at the product configuration process for the parent item. The retrieval of attribute value can be performed before the product configurator process or after.
- Global def
- Indicate the retrieval of the global default value at product configuration for the parent item. The global default attribute can only be retrieved from a previously entered order line with matching attribute. In other words, the global attribute can not be retrieved if not used on any previous order lines. Note: If you set this field to YES and global attribute is found during configuration process, the global default value will be used as default but can manually be changed for the current configuration.
Refer to the Panel help for information about the remaining fields. Click OK when you have completed all relevant fields.
Click OK. Exit the routine.
