Copy an item structure

The following describes how to copy an item structure from DC1 Manufacturing or from an existing project or quotation.

The item structure that has been set up for an item in DC1 Manufacturing can be copied to the project element structure. The complete bill of material, bill of routing and texts are copied to the project. You can also copy an item structure from an existing project order or quotation.

When the item structure has been copied to the project you can maintain the copied structure by changing the values or adding more material and operations.

Note: This is only possible if no previous structure exists for the project element line and if the Struct handl field is set to 1 (structure).

  1. Select the Work with projects menu item.
  2. You access Work with project orders. Select the project you want to work with and click Details.
  3. You access Phase maintenance. Select the phase to which you want to add a structure and click Elements. (Tip: You can also access the element level of the project by clicking the Level function key on the initial Work with project orders panel and then selecting the Element level).
  4. You access Phase element maintenance. Select the element line to which you want to add operations and click Struct.
  5. You access Structure maintenance where you have to specify the type of maintenance you want to perform for the project structure. Complete the following selection field:

    Indicate what type of structure maintenance is to be performed by ticking one of the following: Material, Operations or Copy.

    For this task, tick Copy and click OK.

  6. You access Copy structure selection. Complete the following fields:
    7. Item
    If you want to copy an item structure from DC1 Manufacturing, enter the item to be copied.
    Proj quot
    If you want to copy an item structure from a quotation, enter the quotation and version number to be copied. If the version number field is left blank the default is the last version.
    Project
    If you want to copy an item structure from a project order, enter the number of the project order to be copied.
    Note: You can further specify the selection by entering a phase and line number for the project order to be copied.
    Stop at end network
    Indicate if the sub-assemblies that are indicated as the end of the network should be copied. If you want to copy the whole structure, this field must be set to NO.
    Copy prices
    Indicate if the structures should be copied with or without price. In the former case the prices are copied from the item or from the project or project quotation phase line structure. In the latter case all price fields will be zero and have to be entered by the user.

    Click OK to perform the copy.

    You return to the Structure maintenance panel. You can now make adjustments in the copied project structure. Maintain material on the Material structure maintenance panel, and operations on the Operations maintenance panel. For this task, exit the routine.
