Prerequisites
Pack instructions are only generated for shipment batches that have the Package put away sequence or List put away sequence pick/put type. See Instruction sequence for information about the available pick/put types.

When you process normal shipment batches you pick an item in a location and put it in another location where it will be packaged and eventually shipped. When you process pack instructions you pick and pack at the same time. When the item is picked from the location it is immediately put into the package located in your resource. The items are packed in the same order as indicated through the instructions. When the last pick/pack instruction has been processed you print the label and the package is ready for shipping. The put instruction will ask you to leave the package in the shipping area.

During the process you may choose to print package labels and specifications. If you choose to delay this printing, then you may print the labels and specifications from the package reporting. Note: The shipment batch used here has the Package put away sequence pick/put type.

  1. Select the Select R/F activity menu item.
  2. On the main panel, select the Picking activity.
  3. You access Select R/F batch. Select the batch you want to work with.
  4. The Select package type window displays all pick lists that are included in the selected R/F batch. The R/F batch volume is displayed both as a total value and per pick list. You can change the package type and quantity for each pick list.
  5. Note: If the batch was created manually, then you must manually enter the package type and quantity. In this case, no total volume will be displayed. However, if the batch was created automatically, then the system will calculate the quantity and type of package that is needed. These defaulted values can be changed.
